Children’s Education Committee
This committee helps the Sunday School teachers and leaders with their curriculum for the year. It meets once a quarter and coordinates activities and special events within the church. Anyone interested and committed to Christian education of children and youth are invited to be a part of this committee.
The members of the Garden Guild meet each month to discuss landscaping for and oversee maintenance of the church grounds.
Good Shepherd Sewing Guild
Members of the Sewing Guild make layettes, blankets, caps, gowns and sweaters for the needy newborns at Cox South. This is an outreach project of the St. Mary’s Guild, which donates the materials to make this project successful. If you are able and would like to participate in this worthy endeavor please contact Belle Cockrill at 866-7753.
This committee meets monthly with members from three other congregations: Temple Israel, Deliverance Temple, and Brentwood Christian Church. They plan events and projects designed to foster communication among our different communities. Please call Nan Palmer at 881-2958 for more information.
The Next to New Shop
For over fifty years, the Next to New Shop has served the people of the Springfield area; those who consign clothing, the purchasers of the men's, women's and children's clothing, and the many charitable organizations here and abroad who benefit from the non-profit shop's proceeds.
The store is located at 416 South Kimbrough on the corner of Kimbrough and East Walnut Streets, across from Christ Church. The hours are 10 to 4 Monday through Saturday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:30 am, clothes are accepted for consignment. This worthy ministry is staffed by members and non-members of Christ Church. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please call the Next to New Shop 862-7708.
The outreach committee has the responsibility of overseeing the expenditure of all money designated for outreach and missions. They prayerfully consider worthy projects and strive to be good stewards of available finances. Laurie Saunders chairs this committee and is always looking for individuals who would like to be involved.
Parish Life Committee
Members of this committee organize and host events in the life of Christ Church, such as parish dinners and receptions. Some of these events include the Annual Meeting Brunch, Lenten Soup Suppers, Confirmation Receptions and the Annual Parish Picnic. If you have the gift of hospitality and would like to join with others in this worthwhile ministry please call Marcia Johnson at 831-6966.
Pastoral Care Committee
Pastoral Care is a more specialized ministry within Parish Life. Pastoral Care team members help at times of family loss by serving refreshments at funeral receptions, by house-sitting during a funeral service, or by preparing and delivering meals for those in need.
The prayer chain takes requests from and makes intercessions for those who need special prayers for illnesses or difficult times in their lives. If you have a prayer request or would like to be a link in the prayer chain, contact Margaret Banta at 881-1920.
Sunday School Teachers
We are fortunate to have teams of two to three teachers in each of our Sunday School classrooms. All are dedicated adults who strive to help children experience the love of Jesus and learn to follow in his footsteps. If you love children and love Jesus you too can be a Sunday School teacher. Contact Kathy Sheppard at 866-5133.
