Penny Wars Are Back! On Sunday war will bedeclared between the boys and girls of the Youth Group and we are asking you to provide the ammunition! Every penny counts in this battle to raise money for our next mission trip. Here are the rules: · Every cent equals one point. · Both teams (boys vs girls) will have a jar to collect money. · Pennies and paper money (dollars or checks) are positive points. · Silver money (Quarters, dimes, nickels and silver dollars) are negative points. · The team with the most POINTS (not money) wins!

Outreach Event Needs Volunteers Something new and different awaits the congregation of Christ Episcopal Church. On Saturday, February 27 from 10–noon, members from our church will be working side by side in a small warehouse at 2006 E. Phelps, with hairnets on their heads and measuring cups in their hands. This is the mission of a 35-year old national nutrition program called KIDS AGAINST HUNGER. Springfield has a KAH branch that is two years old. The purpose of this all-volunteer program is to package bags of meals which will then be shipped to feed malnourished children in 40 countries, in the US and even here in Springfield. The key to this project is volunteers. Volunteers work in assembly-line fashion, scooping rice, adding seasoning and vitamins to each bag. Another group of workers weighs the bag making sure it weighs between 392-400 grams. The next set of workers seals the bag. The last group readies the finished bags for large boxes for shipping. A bag of rice will supply four meals in the US or 6 meals in an overseas country. The Springfield site sends food to established missions in Mexico, Tanzania, and Haiti. The Outreach Committee at Christ Church is organizing this event. We are looking for 50 volunteers to work a two-hour session on February 27. The great part is that anyone from age 5 to 95 can volunteer! Outreach will sponsor the cost of this work session. It will not cost you to volunteer, although monetary donations will be accepted. Please call the church office to get your name on the volunteer list. You may want to visit: www.kids-against-hunger.org or speak with Marilyn Vinson McAfee(833-5758) or Laurie Saunders(865-2187) for more information
